Healthy chocolate whey popsicles
I had a serious mental block about whey protein powder just a few months back. I spoke to a nutritionist regarding my difficulty to lose weight & how I find it almost impossible to lose weight even after eating the ‘right’ foods & working out whenever possible as well. She had asked me send a sample of what I eat for a day or two. I had diligently sent her what I ate for 1 whole day & she already knew what my problem was. She told me I was severely cutting down on my required protein intake for the day & that was what was getting me perennially tired & was also the major culprit for my cravings & for my weight loss failure hence. She asked me to start having eggs for breakfast & also advised me to take whey protein twice a day. I opened up to her about my reservations for this & she pointed out that this powder is no different from your horlicks or complan excepting your horlicks & complan are calorie loaded & this ain’t. So, I decided I would give it a shot (she recommended a specific brand which their lab has tested & certified as OK to consume) & I must say I see a huge difference in terms of my weight loss saga & my energy levels. However, having whey protein everyday is super duper duper boring. I was thinking of alternate ways to make it less boring (especially for the weekend evenings when I feel like having something nice aka junk) & that’s when I thought I should try and make popsicles out of these. Our house is constantly stocked with bananas & almost always there are 1 or 2 that’s getting over ripe :). One day when there were 2 over ripe bananas lying around in the kitchen, I whipped up these really yummy popsicles using just 3 ingredients (the bananas, the whey protein & milk to thin it out) & knew I had to blog this one. Regular whey drinkers, please try this one. It’s really amazing & it’s amazing how it takes a boring whey & a boring banana & some boring milk into an amazing popsicle product :). The non whey drinkers who r trying to lose weight, give this one a go :). The non whey drinkers who don’t need to or care about losing weight, don’t bother with this one, I have another recipe coming up with chocolate powder instead of whey powder that’s equally yummy as well.
- 1 medium overripe banana
- 1 scoop chocolate whey protein I use the Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein Powder
- 1 cup milk
-
Slice an overripe banana into pieces and place it in a blender.
-
To this add, the whey powder & milk.
-
Blend until smooth.
-
Transfer into the popsicle moulds.
-
Freeze for a minimum of 6-8 hours.
-
Before you have it, run the mould under water for a few seconds & shake out the popsicle gently.
-
Devour onto a tasty and super healthy popsicle with ZERO guilt.
- Bananas when overripe are naturally very sweet and hence, the more ripe the banana is, the better for this recipe.
- Leave a slight gap in each mould to allow the expansion that happens during freezing.
- This recipe yields 6 medium size popsicles.
